Contrary to popular belief, Haywards Heath has its own share of the rich
and famous - cast your show business eye and see if you recognise any of the names:
Carla Lane - See if you can see the writer of the Liver
Birds and Bread in her anti meat mobile.. If you get the chance, stick a note to her
Land Rover Discovery saying "Celery has feelings too!".
Greta Scacci - Yes I saw her with my two eyes!!
She was in Sainsbury's looking at my Fish display circa 1994 with her son/daughter.
She went to HH Grammer School and did live in Handcross.mad
article found on the net about Greta
Dame Vera Lyn (okay Ditchling!) - lives in a very big
house in the country! Continually bothered by the local Morris Dancers practice
meetings as she bleats her war songs.
Eddie Shah - He studied at Oathall prior to setting up
his "Today" newspaper, went bankrupt but bless him he donated the swimming pool
covers when I were a kid at Oathall.
Amanda Donahue - Always wears sunglasses and high
heeled shoes, always lurking in Sainsbury's in the meat aisle! Apparently has a home
in Hurstpierppoint.
Jimmy Hill - another dweller in Hurstpierpoint, he also
shops at my local Sainsbury's. In all my years as a lowly paid checkout automaton, I
never once experienced his expert but dull banter. Recently did a book signing at
WHSmith, I overheard his banter.... yes he really is an old man with a weird mind..
jumpers for goal posts...
Norman Wisdom (okay he lives on the Isle of Wight!) - well
his more sensible but less entertaining son owns the Wisdom Sports chain of shops in the
Heathian vales.
Sally Gunnell - Just after she won that gold medal for
doing a thing some time ago, I witnessed and old man giving her a congratulatory hug in
Sains, whilst I sat at my checkout wondering what the heck was going on.
Jamie Theakston - well he come from Ditchling, not bad
for a rat boy who dates an All Saint eh?
Zoe Ball - well her mum actually lives in Burgess Hill
Mrs. McClusky (well I dunno her real name!) - Mrs.
Pierce Brosnan - Yes
Bond was in at Borde Hill Gardens eating some tuck and enjoying some
concert.
Ralph Fiennes - was
also muching his way at the Gardens before that very same show - err
nice!
Brett
Anderson - AND Suede - He was a couple of years above me at
Oathall. I did hear from one of my mates that he got off with my mate's
sister. The funny thing is she said he was crap!!! Yo! Brett
Anderson from Suede once said in Q Magazine "the best thing about Haywards Heath was
the railway station, as you could get the train to Brighton". Anyway his Dad drives a
taxi round the area. Look where Suede are now!?! Look at Bernard Butler now... the
big haired buffoon!
Brett Anderson's dad - can still be
seen cabbying around the Heath - stop him if you dare and engage in
some traditional taxi cab banter.
Princess Anne, The Princess Royal
re-opened the Dolphin Leisure Centre - apparently one of my mates
tried to spit on her, but he failed since his prowess at projecting
spewtum was trifle under powered.
Ronnie Corbett (on the Ben Elton Show)
made some joke about "the lady's" and the fact you could see
them picking up their husbands at Haywards Heath station!
Bob Monkhouse - allegedly the bronze
faced comic genius went to Haywards Grammer school before it went all
pohsh and turned in to Haywards Heath College.
Obscure Blonde Carry on Camping Star - not Babs
Winsor, but I think the one who was actually a bit of alright
(you wouldn't think so now) runs that new age shop in South Road.
Michael Elphick - hi ho silver yes Ken
Boon himself opened the above mentioned new age shop.
Punt & Dennis - mentioned Haywards
Heath in one of their jokes concerning trains...
Brad Pitt - Apparently the Pitster (minus an
Aniston) was at Borde Hill during November 99 check out Dan Grouts'
show biz news below:
Here's some hot celeb news for your page. On Saturday Jeff went up to
board hill Gardens to do a bit of work for his boss loading shotguns
for a shooting party, his boss is good friends with Vinnie Jones so he
was there and the event was being held by the bloke who directed lock
stock and two smoking barrels, but get this, Bradd Pitt was also
there, in HH!!, apparently he is in the uk because there filming the
follow up to LSATSB (it's called Diamonds apparently) and he is in it.
This is absolutely true, Jeff spoke to him himself, apparently he is
quite a nice bloke. Surely this must be the biggest star to grace our
humble town.
Daniel
Mariella Frostrup - the sand paper smoking
voiced minor celeb (well we'd look her way) decided to drop in on the illustrious
Lindfield Bonfire Night 5/11/99.
