this is where the old Sains used to be based.
The conceited multinational made it a stipulation that no other super market chain could
use the store, so for a year and bit the property lay bare and the prosperity of the town
suffered as a result. |

 | 6/12/98 - Steer well clear of the salad bar, well allegedly, it
was the cause of a dysentery outbreak back in August. See main page for more on this
item. |
 | 26/7/98 - D'uh - sure the modifications look great, but isn't it
worrying that you spend even more time searching for that chilli sauce that after you've
paid and got out of the building that I have grown two days worth of beard... |
 | 4/7/98 - in a spooky coincidence, our local Sains is shutting down during
the Town Week celebrations so that "essential maintenance" can be undertaken to
upgrade the store to "Galaxy Class Star Cruiser". Yup the locals
have bitched and moaned and the store manager Stefanski(??!!) said that a free bus service
would be in operation to take shoppers to East Grinstead (which is pants!). I
wonder why he didn't suggest the more local super markets Budgens,
Tesco's, Waitrose and
Somerfield which are within the town and neighbouring Burgess Hill - thus negating the 50
minute bus trip to a store which is pants? |
 | 9/4/98 - Sainsbury's News - Sains in the Heath is undergoing a
major revamp. Car parking that has not been used for much is to be developed into part of
the main store, a meat counter installed (the butchers were redeployed for the sake of
prepacked meat (what is there to cut?) and customers confused when all the refrigerated
yogurts and juices were moved to where all the frozen meat were! As for the
Totty, not
much to speak about, although that Deputy Manager with the GIN-ger hair is quite nice. |
